Created this manip for ~auralis-stock's contest--not like there's really any chance of me winning, since this is the night before the deadline and the list of entries is prohibitively long by now, but what the heck...I was planning to interpret this song anyway, so the contest forced me to get it done quickly, and for once I actually like how this manip came out the night I did it. Usually I hate them until the next day. Also entering it in ~lucias-stock 's "myths and legends" contest, 'cause I'm cheap like that.

And actually this looks nothing like the picture in my head--I wanted it all faced the other direction, with Ariel standing on a dock, and maybe with some nice airbrushed hair...yeah right. Well, I was hoping for it, anyway, even though the kind of hair I was imagining is still rather beyond my skill level. And speaking of things being beyond my skill level, this is the first time I've done wings, and I'm aware the left-hand one (on Ariel's right) doesn't quite blend in right...I worked it over with the dodge/burn and smudge tools plenty, but I just couldn't make it work. Any suggestions would be great. Still and all, I'm pretty satisfied with this one...I only started it last night, and that barely, but after about eight layers and probably 5+ hours total, it's done. So yeah.
